Chicago: Hyundai Motor Co. warned it may rethink how many vehicles it builds in the US, joining the world’s largest automakers in speaking out against US President Donald Trump’s crackdown on steel and aluminum imports.

“Changes to the existing tariff structure could negatively impact our current US production and further expansion,” Jim Trainor, a Hyundai spokesman, said in an email.

The worlds biggest steelmaker, ArcelorMittal, and Japan’s top mill will form a partnership to bid for Essar Steel India Ltd., the insolvent producer that could fetch at least $6 billion. Arcelor and Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corp. said in a statement they have joined the bidding for Essar, which is on the block after entering an Indian government-mandated process designed to clean-up companies that can’t repay their debts.

Facebook-owned messaging app, WhatsApp, in its latest update, has extended the time frame in which a message can be deleted. WhatsApp had introduced the Delete for Everyone feature last year in November. In this feature, the users were allowed to delete a sent message within 420 seconds or 7 minutes. However, the company has updated its feature allowing the users to delete a sent message in 4096 seconds, that is, 68 minutes and 16 seconds to be exact.

In a move that could prove as a good news for spouses H1-B visa holders, the United States (US) Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has decided to postpone the date to put the proposed curb. According to a report by the Times of India, the spouses of certain H1-B visa holders can heave a sigh of relief as the DHS has decided to defer the rollout of the proposal that could bar them from seeking employment in the states.

The country’s largest power producer, NTPC Ltd, plans to commission the 250 Mw Bongaigaon thermal power project (TPP) in Kokrajhar in Assam in the first quarter of the ensuing financial year.

Bongaigaon is the first NTPC project in the north-eastern region of 750 Mw capacity (3x250 Mw). Of the total capacity, 500 MW (2x250 Mw) is already generating power.

Calcutta: Coal India would have to step up its production to over 3 million tonnes (mt) per day in March to reach its annual production target of 600 mt for the fiscal, a steep hike from the target of 2 mt a day that coal and railways minister Piyush Goyal had stated in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha in January.

BENGALURU: Consumers can still load money into a Paytm wallet even if they haven’t completed their Know-Your-Consumer (KYC) formalities. Paytm appears to be working around the latest directive of the RBI for mandatory KYC, where users can load money into their accounts through gift vouchers on the platform.

But these gift vouchers won’t let you send money to others or send it back to your bank accounts.

India’s second mission to the moon, Chandrayaan-2, is likely to be launched only in October. Further delays cannot be ruled out if systems are not yet in place by then. An Isro official told TOI several tests have to be done and arrangements need to be made. “We do not want to be in a hurry,” he said.

Chandrayaan-2 consists of an orbiter with one-year mission span, a lander and a rover that can operate for 14 to 15 days on the lunar surface. The rocket will be GSLV Mark 2.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has turned down a request from mobile wallet entities for less stringent Know Your Customer (KYC) rules.

A few weeks earlier, major companies in this segment and in financial technology, along with senior members of the sectoral body, Payments Council of India (PCI), met RBI officials. They requested that if a general relaxation was not possible, it could be considered for at least transactions less than Rs 10,000 a month. Source say RBI would have none of it.

Digital payment major Paytm announced that it has registered 68 million Unified Payments Interface (UPI) transactions in February, 2018, thus emerging as the largest contributor to the overall volume of UPI transactions.

In December last year Paytm had contributed 33 million to the overall transaction volume for UPI, which rose to 51 million in January 2018 and 68 million in February.
