EaseMyTrip in association with the PhonePe app a Mobile payment platform, has partnered with Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to facilitate digital payment on the IRCTC Rail Connect Android app. The partnership will enable the PhonePe users to use their bank accounts to pay for their travel bookings made through Easemytrip via UPI, credit and debit cards, and PhonePe digital wallets.

LIC Housing Finance has reported 18.4 per cent surge in its standalone net profit to Rs 567.94 crore for the first quarter ended June 30.

Reliance Jio has emerged as the country’s biggest telecom service provider on the basis of adjusted gross revenue (AGR), pipping Bharti Airtel, during the April-June quarter, according to data sourced from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai).

However, this is on the basis of only the access service licences. When the national long-distance (NLD) revenue is added, Bharti Airtel continues to be the largest telco.

With the deadline for the resolution of at least 60 large assets — each above Rs 2,000 crore — set to expire on August 27, banks are staring at a big jump in provisions as insolvency proceedings will need to be initiated for these accounts. The list of assets includes around 34 from the power sector involving a bank exposure of approximately Rs 1.74 lakh crore.

In a development that takes it closer to averting bankruptcy proceedings, Reliance Communications (RCom) has secured approval of its overseas bondholders for the revised terms. The Anil Ambani-owned company had defaulted on a $300-million bond last year.

Paytm Payments Bank is still not allowed to add new customers and there is uncertainty over when this restriction would be lifted, said Paytm founder and Chief Executive Officer Vijay Shekhar Sharma.
