Country’s largest lender State Bank of India (SBI) and Japan' Hitachi will enter into a joint venture (JV) for establishing card acceptance and digital payments platform in India. Hitachi Payments Services, a unit of Hitachi, will pick up 26 per cent stake in SBI Payment Services, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SBI. Both parties will apply for regulatory approvals, Hitachi said in a statement on Monday.

Last week, Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) announced a buyback of its 189.3 million equity shares (nearly 5.16 per cent of the paid up equity share capital) at Rs 86 apiece, amounting to Rs 16.28 billion. The buyback price is at around 28 per cent premium to the current market price of Rs 67 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

South Korean auto major Hyundai could bring in a smaller electric SUV to India after assessing the response for its bigger Kona electric SUV which it plans to introduce in the country next year, a top company official said.

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex recovered over 173.33 points in opening trade on Monday on sustained buying in recently battered stocks amid strength in the rupee.

The 30-share Sensex, which lost 340.78 points on Friday, recovered by 173.33 points, or 0.52 per cent, to 33,522.64. Positive trend appeared in some sector led by Infra and Auto, while mixed movements were seen in the banking stocks.
