Online retailer Amazon has invested Rs 450 crore in its digital payments arm Amazon Pay (India). The funding would help the Seattle-based company tap India's booming digital payments market and compete with Walmart-owned PhonePe, Alibaba-backed Paytm, and Google's mobile payment service Google Pay.

The funding came from Singapore-based Amazon Corporate and Mauritius-based entity Amazon.com, according to regulatory documents filed by Amazon, which were sourced from business intelligence platform Tofler.

Even as Indian banks reported an uptick in stressed education loans, public sector lender Bank of Baroda (BoB) expects a growth in education loans portfolio during the financial year 2019-20.

After introducing the Triple Talaq Bill 2019 in Lok Sabha, Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "Rights of Muslim women will be protected. People have chosen us to make laws. Hence, this law will give justice to the victims of Triple Talaq."

Still in the throes of an insolvency resolution, Essar Steel is in a tight spot for failing to develop over 1,000 acres of land at Paradip (Odisha) where it initially proposed a six million tonne greenfield steel mill.

To facilitate the setting up of the steel plant, the Odisha government through its agency for land acquisition- Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Idco) had acquired 1,262 acres of land, of which 1,123 acres were private and around 100 acres were government-owned.

Amravati: Andhra Pradesh Transport Minister Perni Venkateswara Rao on Thursday said that the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) will be merged with the state government and the process will be finished in 60 to 90 days.

The minister, who occupied his chamber in the state secretariat on Thursday, said that 350 electric buses will be introduced in metro cities in the state and people who buy vehicles are being given chance to apply for a license.

Mumbai: Domestic equity benchmark BSE Sensex fell over 150 points Friday dragged by losses in index heavyweights HDFC, RIL, ITC and Maruti, amid weak cues from other Asian markets.

The 30-share index was trading 136.59 points, or 0.34 per cent, lower at 39,465.04 at 0930 hours. Similarly, the broader NSE Nifty was quoting 32.25 points, or 0.27 per cent, down at 11,799.50.
