J-K Assembly polls from Sept 18; Haryana votes on Oct 1; counting on Oct 4

The Election Commission on Friday announced that the Assembly Elections in the state of Jammu and Kashmir will be held in three phases on September 18, September 25, and October 1, 2024. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that the counting of votes will be done on October 4.

In Haryana, the Assembly Elections will coincide with the third phase of J-K from October 1 with counting of votes also scheduled for October 4, he informed.

IMA announces nationwide withdrawal of services by doctors on August 17

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has announced a 24-hour nationwide withdrawal of services by doctors of modern medicine across the country in protest against the brutal rape and murder at R G Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.

The protest will start at 6 am on Saturday, August 17, 2024, and conclude at 6 am on Sunday, August 18, 2024, according to a statement from IMA.

For the first quarter of FY25, revenue from operations stood at Rs 401 crore, marking a 158 per cent increase from Rs 67 crore in Q1FY24.

This potential deal, valued at approximately $800 million in equity, could become one of the largest transactions in India’s green energy sector.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday declined to grant immediate interim bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the now-cancelled 2021-22 excise policy case probe.

The court also issued a notice to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), seeking their response on the matter.

Kejriwal had filed a plea in the top court against the Delhi High Court order upholding his arrest by the CBI.
