BoB narrows net loss to Rs 991 cr in Q4 on accelerated NPA provisioning

Public sector lender Bank of Baroda has reported a net loss of Rs 991 crore in the last quarter of FY19, much less than the Rs 3,102-crore net loss that it reported during the same period last year.

The loss reported by the lender is on account of accelerated NPA provisioning for its telecom and IL&FS exposure. It has also provided fully for its exposure to Bhushan Steel and Alok Industries. The bank, however, had posted a profit of Rs 471.25 crore in Q3FY19.

RISAT-2B (Radar Imaging Satellite-2B), an earth observation satellite, was placed into orbit early on Wednesday by the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro).

It was launched at 5:30 am from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota, off the southern Andhra coast, about 100 km from here. About 15 minutes into flight, the rocket placed RISAT-2B into orbit.

YES Bank has an exposure of Rs 13,000 crore to Reliance group entities and another Rs 3,300 crore to Essel group companies, according to analysts.

The benchmark BSE Sensex jumped over 150 points in early trade on Wednesday, led by gains in oil and gas, banking and IT stocks, ahead of the general election results.

The 30-share index was trading 157.51 points, or 0.40%, higher at 39,127.31. In similar movement, the broader NSE Nifty rose 30.90 points, or 0.26%, to 11,740. In the previous session, the Sensex ended 382.87 points, or 0.97%, lower at 38,969.80, and the Nifty plunged 119.15 points, or 1.01%, to 11,709.10.

Hyundai Motor India on Tuesday launched a sub-4 metre sports utility vehicle, Venue, which will be in direct competition with Maruti Suzuki’s Vitara Brezza, Mahindra’s XUV300 and Tata Nexon. Dubbed India’s first connected car, the Venue falls in a segment where the industry’s monthly sales are around 35,000 units.

While the average monthly sales of Maruti’s Vitara Brezza is around 14,000 units, Hyundai’s Creta, which is slightly higher priced, sells nearly 10,000.
