At least 29 people lost their lives and several others were injured after a UP Roadways bus heading towards New Delhi from Lucknow fell into a drain on Yamuna Expressway in Agra on Monday morning.

The double-decker bus, that belonged to Awadh Depot, was carrying as many as 50 passengers on board, according to initial reports. Overcrowding is primarily being presumed to be the cause of the accident.

Petrol price was Saturday hiked by a minimum Rs 2.40 per litre and diesel by Rs 2.36 after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman raised taxes on the fuels to part-fund her Budget for 2019-20. Petrol price in Delhi was increased by Rs 2.45 per litre to Rs 72.96 while the increase in Mumbai was Rs 2.42 to Rs 78.57, according to a price notification issued by state-owned Indian Oil Corp (IOC).

State-owned telecom firm BSNL has received approval of the home ministry and the Department of Telecommunications to provide special SIM to Amarnath pilgrims.

"Since prepaid connections of other states are not allowed to work in Jammu and Kashmir, special pre-loaded Yatra SIMs are being provided by BSNL with the approval of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the DoT," BSNL said in a statement.

India's foreign exchange reserves swelled by USD 1.262 billion to scale a fresh high of USD 427.678 billion in the week to June 28, boosted by higher foreign portfolio investments and a stable rupee, RBI data showed Friday.

In the previous reporting week, the reserves had surged by USD 4.215 billion to USD 426.42 billion.
