Shares of HDFC Bank climbed 2.5 per cent to Rs 1272 apiece on the BSE on Tuesday after the largest private sector lender reported strong business growth in the December quarter (Q3FY20).

The bank’s total advances grew by 20 per cent year on year (YoY) to Rs 9.34 trillion in Q3FY20, driven by festive season demand. Total advances stood at Rs 7.81 trillion in Q3FY19 and at Rs 8.97 trillion in September 2019 quarter (Q2FY20).

Shares of sugar companies were in demand on Tuesday with Balrampur Chini Mills, EID Parry (India) and Dwarikesh Sugar Industries hitting their respective 52-week highs on the BSE. The sugar companies are expected to report a strong operational performance, driven by higher sugar realizations and lower costs.

Balrampur Chini Mills rallied 7 per cent to Rs 194 on the BSE in early morning trade today, and was trading at its highest level since May 2006. It had hit an all-time high of Rs 205 on April 2006.

Amazon India on Monday said it has entered into long-term business agreements with Future Group for expanding the reach of the latter's retail stores and consumer brands through its online marketplace. The development comes after Amazon had agreed to buy 49 per cent stake in Future Coupons Ltd that in turn holds stake in Future Retail Ltd (FRL) last year.
