Senior diplomats from China and India on Friday held a video conference to discuss the border standoff ahead of the Lt General-level talks scheduled on Saturday.
In a Video Conference between Naveen Srivastava, Joint Secretary (East Asia) and Mr Wu Jianghao, Director General in the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two sides reviewed the state of bilateral relations including the current developments, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.

The Supreme Court on Friday allowed the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to intervene in the case related to plight and miseries of stranded migrant workers due to the coronavirus-enforced nationwide lockdown.
The NHRC, in its intervention plea filed through Deputy Registrar Sunil Arora, gave short term and long term measures for consideration of the apex court in order to alleviate the plight of the migrant workers and to ensure that their human rights are not violated.

Mahandoss, who owns a salon in Tamil Nadu’s temple town Madurai says that he or his family didn’t expect any recognition or rewards when they donated a large part of their savings to help the needy during the coronavirus-enforced lockdown.

A day before Corps Commander level talks between India and China over the month-long standoff in eastern Ladakh, a Chinese government mouthpiece on Friday warned that Beijing will not give up an inch of territory even though it wants good-neighbourly relations with New Delhi.
China does not want to fall foul of India. Good-neighbourly relations have been China's basic national policy over the past decades, and China firmly adheres to a peaceful resolution of border disputes. We have no reason to make India our enemy, an editorial published in Global Times said.

Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) has been harassing and intimidating India’s top diplomat in Islamabad.
Reportedly, ISI has put up multiple persons in cars and bikes outside his residence to harass him.
In a note sent to the foreign ministry in Islamabad in March, Indian High Commission protested against the continuous harassment of its officers and staff by Pakistani agencies. India had cited 13 incidents of harassment of its officers and staff in the month of March itself.

The number of coronavirus cases in India has marked significant and consecutive highest jumps over a major part of the last two weeks.
On Thursday, the total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 infection in India crossed the 2.25 lakh-mark, while the death toll breached the 6,300-mark as well. With this, India has now become the world's seventh worst-hit country in terms of coronavirus cases, according to the World Health Organisation's (WHO) COVID-19 tracker.

As the coronavirus pandemic continues to trouble India's economy, the consumer confidence has collapsed to a historic low, a survey by the Reserve Bank of India has showed.
Consumer confidence collapsed in May 2020, with the Current Situation Index (CSI) touching historic low and the one year ahead Future Expectations Index (FEI) also recording a sharp fall, entering the zone of pessimism, said RBI's Consumer Confidence Survey (CCS).

Two days after cyclone Nisarga made a landfall in Raigad district's Alibaug of Maharashtra, state chief minister Uddhav Thackeray will visit the affected areas on Friday to take a stock of the damages.
The visit comes a day after the CM held a video conference with the authorities to monitor the situation in the aftermath of the cyclone and asked the authorities to complete the 'panchnamas' or inspection and submit a report on the damages caused by Nisarga withing two days.

Abu Dhabi-based investor Mubadala will buy a 1.85% stake in Jio Platforms for 9,093.6 crores.
Mubadala Investment Company (Mubadala) will invest Rs 9,093.60 crore in Jio Platforms at an equity value of Rs 4.91 lakh crore and an enterprise value of Rs 5.16 lakh crore. Mubadala’s investment will translate into a 1.85% equity stake in Jio Platforms on a fully diluted basis, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) said in a statement on Friday.
