The samples of a 60-year-old man who passed away in Mumbai's Dharavi area tested positive for coronavirus on Sunday, thereby raising the region's COVID-19 tally to 47 cases and pushing the death toll up to five.
On Monday, the Maharashtra Health Department informed that 82 new positive cases of coronavirus infection were reported in the state on this day, taking the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in the state to 2,064. 59 of these new cases are in Mumbai, of which, 47 are in Dharavi.

The Punjab policeman whose hand was chopped off by Nihang Sikhs during an attack on Sunday morning underwent a complex surgery and his hand was succesfully reimplanted. He is now recovering.
The surgery was performed by a team of doctors at PGIMER, Chandigarh and lasted for 7.5 hours. The doctors called the operation it technically very complex and challenging.

The total number of positive cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infection in the country mounted to 9,152 on Monday, which includes 7,987 active cases, 856 cured or discharged patients, 308 deaths and one migrated patient. According to the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, 35 deaths have been reported in the country in the last 24 hours.

The death toll from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the United States on Monday crossed 22,000 and currently stands at 22,115. Two days earlier, the US had surpassed Italy to become the country with the highest number of deaths in the world, surpassing Italy, as the pandemic outbreak continues to spread like wildfire across the globe.
According to the Coronavirus Resource Center at the Baltimore-based John Hopkins University, the US has recorded 1,514 deaths related to the coronavirus over the past 24 hours alone.

12 South Delhi neighbourhoods were brought under the containment zones after fresh COVID-19 positive cases were reported from these areas bringing the total number of coronavirus hotspots to 43 in India.
SouthEast Delhi has the most containment zones at 12, followed by east Delhi with nine coronavirus containment zones. Shahadra has five containment zones, followed by West Delhi which has four.

The Ministry of Health and Family welfare on Sunday said that the government is 'over prepared' as there are more than sufficient number of hospital beds available compared to the number of positive coronavirus cases in the country.

A survey, carried out by the National Association for Business Economics (NABE), has revealed that the US economy is already in recession and will remain in a contractionary state for the first half of 2020, as the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic severely restricts economic activity.

India has requested the US government to extend the validity of H-1B and other visas for Indian nationals stranded in the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
