Mumbai: Toyota Motor Corporation and Suzuki Motor Corporation on Friday revealed broad contours of their evolving partnership that centres around India.

Within two months of agreeing to share product portfolio, the Japanese carmakers with a significant presence in India have proposed that they also eye synergies by sharing infrastructure such as factories and dealer networks in India.

India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) is looking to add 400 vendors to its suppliers’ training programme to enhance quality and production efficiency.

Under this programme, the company will assist 400 tier-1 suppliers on global best practices for training workforce by 2020. MSIL has so far established 90 Dojo centres – state-of-the-art facility for learning – to help vendors achieve greater operational efficiency.

New Delhi: Japanese carmaker Suzuki Motor Corp. plans to expand production capacity by as many as 2.5 million cars a year in the decade to 2030 as it lays the groundwork to maintain its dominance in India, where it sells one in two cars.

The capacity expansion, the biggest ever planned by Suzuki or its local unit in India, will be divided into two phases, two people aware of the plans said, requesting anonymity. Suzuki will first expand its Gujarat plant by adding capacity to make 750,000 cars starting 2020.

Maruti Suzuki on Tuesday said that it is undertaking a service campaign to inspect 52,686 units of its new Swift and Baleno, both hugely popular cars, for a possible fault in the brake vacuum hose. The units manufactured between December 1, 2017 and March 16, 2018 will be covered under the campaign.

New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) on Tuesday said it is asking customers of 52,686 new Swift and Baleno models to undertake a service campaign to inspect for a possible fault in brake vacuum hose.

New Swift and Baleno units manufactured between 1 December, 2017 and 16 March, 2018 will be covered in this campaign, MSI said in communication to customers on its website.

India's leading carmaker Maruti Suzuki has set up the first Institute of Driving Training and Traffic Research (IDTR) in Bihar and was inaugurated by Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar.

This new IDTR will set standards for quality driving training and also impart driving training, theoretical and practical, to aspiring and existing drivers.
