Greater Noida: South Korean automaker Hyundai on Wednesday launched a new version of its premium compact hatchback Elite i20 priced between Rs5.34 lakh and Rs9.15 lakh (ex- showroom Delhi).

The company, which operates here through its wholly-owned arm Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), also unveiled its global electric vehicle Ioniq.

The first month of 2018 seems to have brought big cheers to the automobile makers in the country as they logged good growth in volumes.

"2018 has started on a positive and promises progressive growth for the industry, with company's volume growth of 8.3 per cent on improved buying potential, led by stable micro economic factors," said Rakesh Srivastava, Director, Sales and Marketing, at Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) on Thursday.

South Korea's finance ministry announced on Wednesday Hyundai Motor Group's plan for hiring and investing about 23 trillion won ($21.56 billion) over five years after Finance Minister Kim Dong-yeon visited the group's lab earlier in the day. The South Korean manufacturer used the 201 Consumer Electronics Show to debut its Nexo, a sport utility vehicle that uses voice commands, artificial intelligence and can be transformed into an autonomous car.

New Delhi: Hyundai Motor India Ltd will introduce its electric vehicle brand Ioniq in India to tap into India’s ambitious plans to have an all-electric fleet in the country by 2030.

Ioniq, the brand under which the South Korean car maker sells electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid cars globally, is expected to be showcased at the forthcoming Auto Expo scheduled to be held in February 2018, two people privy to the matter said.
