NetQoS was founded in 1999, traffic over the WAN was increasing in volume and complexity, leading to growing application performance issues. However, most approaches to network management still focused on device availability and fault management, not performance.
The few tools available to track performance were difficult to deploy and maintain and did not produce the detailed results necessary for large organizations to troubleshoot application performance issues efficiently, plan for change, or manage service levels.
