Golden Spread Electric Cooperative, Inc. is a tax-exempt, consumer-owned public utility, organized in 1984 to provide low cost, reliable electric service for its rural distribution cooperative members. Its 16 member systems serve more than 185,000 retail consumers located in the Oklahoma Panhandle and an area covering 24 percent of Texas land area including the Panhandle, South Plains and Edwards Plateau Regions.GS Electric Generating Cooperative, Inc. was formed by Golden Spread in 1996 as a wholly owned affiliate to engage in exempt wholesale generating activities. GSEGC is a 50 percent owner of the 480 megawatt Mustang Station, a gas-fueled, combined cycle generating plant located near Denver City, Texas.Yoakum Electric Generating Cooperative, Inc. was formed in 2005, also as a wholly-owned affiliate to own and operate Mustang Station Unit 4, a new 150 megawatt combustion turbine-generator. The generating unit was completed in 2006, and in 2007 Mustang Station Unit 5, a second 150 megawatt combustion turbine-generator, was completed at the same site.

Grand River Dam Authority also manages two lakes.It took the dam authority of the State of Oklahoma to create the body that would dam the Grand River. The resulting power provider, the Grand River Dam Authority, is responsible for supplying wholesale electricity to municipal and cooperative utilities and industrial customers in its service territory, which encompasses 24 counties in northeastern Oklahoma.

The utility provides wholesale electricity to more than 1.7 million people (at more than 639,000 homes, businesses, and farms) through 28 distribution cooperatives in Minnesota and Wisconsin. It operates more than 4,500 miles of transmission lines and has more than 2,800 MW of capacity from fossil-fueled, hydroelectric, and renewable power generation facilities. The company also owns or partially owns more than 100 transmission substations. Great River Energy is the #2 electric utility in Minnesota, in terms of generating capacity, and one of the top five largest generation and transmission cooperatives in the US (based on assets).

Public utility Green Mountain Power (GMP) lights up the hills of Vermont, supplying electricity to 95,000 customers in the state. The utility also markets wholesale electricity in New England. The company operates more than 4,720 miles of transmission and distribution lines and owns a minority stake in high-voltage transmission operator Vermont Electric Power (VELCO). GMP owns about 150 MW of capacity from hydroelectric and fossil-fueled power plants, but it purchases most of its power from other utilities. The company's long-term contracts with Vermont Yankee and Hydro-Quebec provide about 75% of GMP's power supply.
