CIMB Group (formerly Bumiputra-Commerce Holdings Berhad) is the second-largest financial services firm in Malaysia, behind Malaysian Banking Berhad. It is holding company for CIMB Bank, CIMB Investment Bank, and CIMB Islamic, which provide banking and financial services throughout Southeast Asia. The group has about 1,150 locations in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore, as well as Thailand, where it operates CIMB Bank Niaga. Other CIFH holdings include stakes in CITIC International Assets Management and CITIC Capital Holdings. CIFH was formed in 2002 in the reorganization of Ka Wah Bank; it is 70%-owned by CITIC Group through China CITIC Bank.

Clairvest Group is a merchant bank that invests its own capital and that of third-party investors as well. The bank invests primarily through its Clairvest Equity Partners Limited Partnership subsidiary, in both public and private entrepreneurial corporations. The company acquired a controlling interest in orthopedic back-care products investor Integral Orthopedics in early 2005. Other substantial holdings include N-Brook Mortgage Group, an underwriter of residential real estate mortgages in Canada, and Light Tower Rentals, which leases oil field equipment in the southwestern US.

Along with standard personal and commercial services such as deposit accounts, lending, credit cards, and financial advice, the bank also dabbles in agribusiness and private banking (it has an office on the Isle of Guernsey, the locus of offshore banking).
