The company has approximately 50 branches in Hong Kong and a handful of branches and representative offices in China and the US. Through subsidiaries, CHB also offers insurance and re-insurance investment services, securities trading, and commodities. Its Chong Hing Securities unit offers MPF (pension fund) services. The managing Liu family founded CHB as Liu Chong Hing Bank in 1948.

The banking services group includes Chuo Mitsui Trust and Banking (retail trust, banking, real estate, and stock transfer services) and Chuo Mitsui Asset (pension and securities trusts). Chuo Mitsui Asset owns investment trust and private equity managers Chuo Mitsui Asset Management and Chuo Mitsui Capital. The group has units in the US, the UK, Singapore, the Cayman Islands, and China. Chuo Mitsui Trust and Sumitomo Trust & Banking plan to merge, with Chuo Mitsui as the surviving entity. Renamed Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Holdings, the combined company will be Japan's largest asset management group.

CIMB Group (formerly Bumiputra-Commerce Holdings Berhad) is the second-largest financial services firm in Malaysia, behind Malaysian Banking Berhad. It is holding company for CIMB Bank, CIMB Investment Bank, and CIMB Islamic, which provide banking and financial services throughout Southeast Asia. The group has about 1,150 locations in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore, as well as Thailand, where it operates CIMB Bank Niaga. CIMB Group's offerings include corporate and consumer banking, investment banking, Islamic banking, stock brokerage, asset management, and insurance.
