The Children's Hospital to keep them rambunctious. The not-for-profit organization runs a network of health facilities in Colorado anchored by its nearly 50-acre main campus in Aurora. The campus includes a 285-bed inpatient hospital and numerous specialty outpatient clinics. The Children's Hospital also operates more than a dozen satellite locations in and around Denver where pint-sized patients can get emergency, after-hours, and specialty care. Affiliated with the University of Colorado Denver Health Sciences Center, The Children's Hospital -- led by CEO Jim Shmerling -- performs a wide range of research into pediatric illnesses, including cancer and HIV/AIDS.
