Apelon, Inc. is a privately held software and informatics company with offices in Ridgefield, CT. The company was created in September, 1999 through the merger of Lexical Technology and Ontyx. Apelon provide data standard solutions to government healthcare agencies, HIT vendors, provider organizations, pharmaceutical companies and medical research organizations to help improve the comparability and accessibility of clinical information.

For over twenty years, Apelon’s tools and services have been instrumental in assisting major content creation efforts such as the College of American Pathologists' SNOMED RT and CT®, the Veteran's Health Affairs National Drug File – Reference Terminology (NDF-RT), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), the National Library of Medicine’s UMLS Metathesaurus, the National Cancer Institute Thesaurus, UMDNS (Unified Medical Device Nomenclature System), and ICD-9-CM (International Classification of Diseases, ninth revision, Clinical Modification).

Apelon products and services have assisted in the integration and deployment of standardized terminology for healthcare organizations such as Accenture, Allscripts, Elsevier, IBM, Intel, Kaiser Permanente, NextGen Healthcare, Oracle and Philips Medical Systems; and biotech companies such as Ardais, Celera Genomics, and Deltagen. Internationally, we have extensive engagements in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong and New Zealand.
