The film features Varun Dhawan as Rakesh Sharma (Humpty) and Alia Bhatt as Kavya Pratap Singh in lead roles.

The film is produced by Karan Johar and directed by debutant Shashank Khaitan.

Dharma Productions confirmed that Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt will be portraying the main leads for the movie in August 2013.

This will be the second time the pair will be seen together in a movie and also with the producer Karan Johar. It was confirmed in January 2014.

Filming of the movie began in early 2014. Mainly the filming was taken place in Mumbai and second schedule completed on 12 March in Punjab.

TV Actor Siddharth Shukla has been signed by the producers, who himself will be playing an important role for the movie alongside the main cast. This marks Shukla's debut in Hindi film industry.

As a part of the filming schedule, filming been completed in Ambala,[10]Chandigarh, Khan Market and Delhi University.

The films soundtrack is composed by Sachin-Jigar & Sharib-Toshi and lyrics are penned by Kumaar.

The film will be released on 11 July 2014.
