Will play aggressive role in Parliament; not afraid to go to jail: Mamata Banerjee

As the Monsoon Session of the Parliament began on Monday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that her party will play an aggressive role.

Speaking to media, Mamata Banerjee said, "We will play an aggressive role in Parliament. We are ready to go to jail but will not bow our heads."

"All opposition parties must unite together. This is the best time," she added.

She also said that her party voted for Meira Kumar to register protest against 'present atrocities' in the country.

The West Bengal Chief Minister also alleged that the Centre has ruined relationship with Bhutan, Nepal and Bangladesh and they (citizens) were the worst sufferers.

Earlier in the day, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said the Opposition has listed out the issues to be raised in the Parliament and will again meet before the commencement of the session to list them on priority basis.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoped the 'growing stronger together' spirit of the GST will bring enthusiasm to Parliament proceedings and that political parties will engage in high standard of debate and provide value addition during the Monsoon session.

"It is my firm belief that the Monsoon session will provide an opportunity to all political parties and MPs to enter into high standard of debate and to provide value addition for taking major decisions in larger national interest," Modi told reporters.
