Independence Day sale: SpiceJet, Air India announce offers starting at Rs 399

India's Independence Day is just around the corner. And it's the time when retailers, e-commerce websites and airline companies announce hefty holiday discounts to cash in on the festive mood.
With I-Day only six days away, in the aviation sector, so far SpiceJet and Air India have announced discounted fares.
SpiceJet's Great Independence Day sale went live on Tuesday and will go on till August 11 midnight. The Ajay Singh-led SpiceJet is offering domestic tickets with base fare starting at Rs 399 and international base fares starting at Rs 2,999.
You can book tickets for the travel period between August 18 and September 30, 2016.
On the domestic routes, the discounts are available for "popular routes like Ahmedabad - Mumbai, Amritsar - Srinagar, Bengaluru - Chennai, Bengaluru - Kochi, Coimbatore - Hyderabad, Jammu - Srinagar, Mumbai - Goa and Mumbai - Hyderabad, among others.
On the international routes, the discounted fare is available for routes like Dubai - Delhi and Dubai - Mumbai routes. There are discounts available on direct flights operated by SpiceJet also, it said on its website.
There's a catch here, which is synonymous with SpiceJet discounts. The discounted fare is available on one-way fares only and not if you're booking a round trip.
Air India, on the other hand, has announced an Independence Day Special fare for Army Personnel.
This is only valid for active military personnel of all the Indian Armed Forces, which includes Army, Navy and the Air Force. The special fares were made available on August 5 and will go up to August 15. However, the catch here is that it is for travel effective August 15th only, Air India's website said.
The scheme is also available only on tickets booked from the City Booking Office (CTOs) and Airport Booking Office (ATOs).
Apart from this, the state-run airline has also announced another sale for civilians called the Air India Monsoon Sale which is also running from August 9 to 15.
Tickets at discounted fares can be booked for the travel period between August 22 and September 30. Under the offer, Air India is offering Economy Class tickets at Rs 1,199.
For international routes, the discounted tickets are available for return flights on the international network. However, for Gulf, Middle East and Saudi Arabia, the discounts are available on one way fares also.

Tech giant Microsoft Corporation recently acquired 48 acres of land in Hyderabad in a transaction estimated to be worth around Rs 267 crore.
The acquisition of the property was facilitated through Sai Balaji Developers, a land aggregator situated in Ranga Reddy district, as indicated in the documentation shared by data analytics company Propstack, according to a report in The Economic Times (ET).

Shares of Shakti Pumps (SPIL) locked in the upper circuit for the fifth straight day, up 5 per cent at Rs 2,585.85 per share on the BSE in Monday's intraday deals. This came after the company reported a robust March quarter (Q4FY24) earnings and strong order book. In comparison, the S&P BSE Midcap and Smallcap index were down by 1 per cent.
The stock of the company is trading at its record high level and has rallied 28 per cent in past one week. Moreover, in the past 33 trading days, the stock has more than doubled or zoomed 104 per cent from Rs 1,121 on March 14, 2024.
