Sensex down over 350 points, slips below 24,000-level

MUMBAI: The benchmark BSE Sensex extended losses for a second straight day and cracked below 24,000-mark by tumbling almost 374 points in early deals on sustained capital outflows by foreign funds and selling by retail investors.
There were no surprises on the growth front as a government data on Monday showed that Indian economy grew 7.3 per cent in October-December quarter of 2015-16.
Deprecating rupee against the dollar also influenced the sentiment.
The 30-share index plunged by 373.95 points or 1.53 per cent to 23,919.47. The gauge had lost 329.55 points in the previous session.
In a similar fashion, the NSE Nifty fell below 7,300-mark by losing 106.55 points or 1.44 per cent to 7,280.55.

India's markets regulator has sent notices of regulatory violations to seven companies of the Adani conglomerate, including its flagship Adani Enterprises, the group said in stock exchange filings.
The regulator began probing the Adani group, led by billionaire Gautam Adani, after Hindenburg Research in January 2023 alleged improper use of tax havens and stock manipulation by the group, accusations the group has denied.

Tata Motors has obtained requisite majority from its shareholders on the scheme of arrangement pertaining to conversion of shares with differential voting rights (DVR) (also known as A-ordinary shares) into ordinary shares. The resolution (Scheme of Arrangement of Tata Motors and its shareholders and creditors under Sections 230 to 232 of the Act) received an overwhelming 99.81 per cent ‘for’ votes, showed a stock exchange filing made by the company.
The shareholder approval will pave the way for Tata Motors to convert its shares with DVR into ordinary shares and thereby simplify its capital structure.

During Apple’s quarterly earnings call on May 2, Apple's CEO Tim Cook pointed out generative artificial intelligence as the company’s next frontier. According to a report by 9To5Mac, while talking about Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which is scheduled for June 10, the Apple CEO said that he is excited to reveal what the company has been working on.
Tim Cook did not point out the AI features that the company is working on for its ecosystem.

Former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia approached the high court on Thursday seeking bail in the corruption and money-laundering cases lodged by the CBI and the ED respectively in relation to the alleged excise policy scam.
The bail pleas are scheduled for hearing before Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma on Friday.
Sisodia approached the high court after a trial court refused to grant him bail in the matter on April 30.
