Nasscom Foundation announces scheme for social innovators

Nasscom Foundation on Monday said it had partnered with Genpact and Mphasis to provide a seed grant of Rs 6000,000 to early stage enterprises that focus on creating sustained social impact.

The forum would award catalytic grants to early stage enterprises with an impact focus that address gaps in skilling for employment, primary and secondary education, health care, accessibility, women's safety and other relevant areas, a statement added. The grant money for the winning projects would be complimented with industry-led mentoring support, it said.

"Riding on last year's success, where the programme received interest from over a thousand innovators, NASSCOM Social Innovation Forum (NSIF) hopes to see robust participation this year as well, from a wide array of social innovators including NGOs, Social Enterprises, For-profit Enterprises, Individuals," the statement said.

"Genpact is committed to NASSCOM Foundation's objective of leveraging technology for social development and inclusive growth. By supporting innovators and social organizations, NSIF has the potential of significant positive impact on the development ecosystem in the country," the statement said quoting Senior Vice President of Genpact Mohit Thukral.

Speaking on the same occasion, NASSCOM Foundation Chair Ganesh Natarajan said, "Over the years NASSCOM Foundation has established itself as a harbinger of change, driving technology for good. Through NASSCOM Social Innovation Forum, we hope to create an ecosystem."

Nasscom Foundation in collaboration with Genpact and Mphasis announced launch of the eighth edition of the Nasscom Social Innovation Form, a 'Tech for Good' platform that aims to drive technology led innovation to create sustained social impact, a statement said.
