Major fire breaks out at BSEL tower in Vashi, no casualties

NAVI MUMBAI: A major fire broke out at the BSEL Tech Tower opposite the Vashi railway station at around 11.30am on Tuesday.

Flames engulfed the sixth and seventh floors of the building housing offices before firemen brought the fire under control.

Firefighters from the Vash fire station reached the spot in 15 minutes and started dousing the fire, using the fire hydrant installed on the fifth floor.

However, as this was not, enough a Bronto skylift was pressed into service at 12.30pm which brought the fire under control within 10 minutes.

All the offices in the B-wing of the BSEL tower were evacuated before starting the fire fighting operation.

No casualties were reported.

A short circuit is suspected to have caused the fire.
