The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has invited online applications to fill 43 vacancies for the post of Public Prosecutor in Central Bureau of Investigation, Department of Personnel and Training, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pension.

This is a Level-10 government job and the pay will be linked to the 7th pay commission.

A total of 26 seats have been set aside for Unreserved candidates, eight for OBC, four seats for SC, one for ST, and four for EWS. Of the 43 vacancies, one vacancy is reserved for candidates belongs to PwBD with Disability of Blind (B) or Low Vision (LV).

Being a Level-10 pay scale job in the Pay Matrix as per the 7th Pay Commission General Central Service, Group A, Gazetted, Non-ministerial, the monthly salary offered to the selected candidates is Rs 56,100 to Rs 1,77,500. Along with it, the selected candidates will get other perks such as dearness allowance, travel allowance and others.

For the qualifications, a degree in law from a recognized university and seven years of practice at the Bar in pursuing criminal cases are mandatory. The age limit cannot exceed 35 years.

DUTIES expected from Public Prosecutor in the Central Bureau of Investigation:

*Public Prosecutor will be responsible for conducting the prosecution of cases in the courts, to attend matters arising of or pertaining to court cases/references and to give legal advice in respect of cases investigated by the Branch.

*Public Prosecutor will also attend to other works as prescribed by the Department from time to time.

Candidates have been asked to pay a fee of ₹25 only, either by remitting the money in any branch of the SBI by cash or by using net banking facility of the SBI or by using visa/master credit/debit card. No fee for SC/ST/PwBD/Women candidates of any community. No "fee exemption" is available to Gen/OBC/EWS male candidates and they are required to pay the full prescribed fee.
