BJP leader Anupam Hazra who threatened to hug Mamata Banerjee if infected with COVID-19, tests positive for virus

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Secretary from West Bengal Anupam Hazra who had dared to hug West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee if infected with cornavirus, tested postive for the virus on Friday.

"Covid Positive," posted Anupam Hazra on his Facebook page today.

He has been shifted to BP Poddar Hospital for treatment.

Anupam Hazra had on Sunday said, "If someday I am found COVID-19 positive, I will go to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and hug her. She will understand the pain of those who have suffered the disease and have lost their near and dear ones during the pandemic."

Meanwhile, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the West Bengal government opened the gates of the Bengal Safari Park--the only one of its kind in the state nestling on the outskirts of Siliguri along with the other 12 zoological parks of the state.

This comes after the forest department had last week, made the decision to allow the resumption of visitors to zoos which had remained shut for over six months.The department also took a series of health safety measures in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In West Bengal there are 26,772 active COVID-19 cases, with 5076 deaths.
