COVID-19 Outbreak: Delhi schools to remain closed till July 31, announces Manish Sisodia

In view of the raging coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic outbreak, all schools in the national capital will remain closed till July 31, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia announced on Friday.

The schools have remained closed in the Delhi since March 23 due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, which has been spreading like wildfire in the national capital, and by extension, the country.

The schools have remained closed in the Delhi since March 23 due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, which has been spreading like wildfire in the national capital, and by extension, the country.

Earlier, the Delhi government had announced an extension of the summer vacation in government schools in the national capital till June 30. The vacations had kicked off on May 11.

The private schools had also followed a similar schedule.

Since the summer vacations are about to end, the Delhi government saw it fit to announce the extension of the closure at this time, since guardians of the students are much concerned about the routines of the schools.

Last week, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had said that many schools in the national capital are taking fees arbitrarily, and charging transportation fees even when schools are closed due to the lockdown, and urged them to refrain from doing so.

The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development has also directed colleges and other educational institutions across the country not to insist on payment of fees till the ongoing nationwide lockdown is lifted.

The ministry issued guidelines to the institutions across the country and asked them to strictly comply with it.
