Centre registers strong protest against Pakistani vessel's attack on Indian fishing boats

India has registered strong protests with Islamabad after Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) vessel attacked two Indian fishing boats on Sunday. The incident took place off the coast of Gujarat at the international maritime border and during the attack, one Indian fisherman was injured.
In a note verbale, the Ministry of External Affairs condemned the "deplorable and unprofessional act" by PMSA vessel, calling it a contravention of international laws. The ministry also asked Pakistan to desist from such acts in the future.
Pakistan Maritime Security Agency is a uniform service branch within the Pakistan Navy and looks after the country's maritime interests. The vessel attacked two Indian fishing boats - Omkar and Mahasagar.
Earlier in the day, India issued a strong demarche to Pakistan over the killing of three of its civilians in ceasefire violations in Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistani side in ceasefire violation on April 12 in Chowkibal and Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir had killed three Indian civilians including a woman and a minor child.
In the demarche, India said that killing goes beyond "humanitarian norms and professional military conduct" and called on Islamabad to "desist from such acts immediately." India also asked Pakistan to "adhere" to the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding.
On Sunday, Pakistan fired indiscriminately in Kerni sector in Poonch district and in Tangdhar and Karnah sectors of Kupwara district. The deceased were identified as 34-year-old Shamima Begum, 17-year old Javid Ahmad Khan of Reddi Chowkibal and 8-year old Zeeshan Bashir, resident of Tumna.
Even as the world is coordinating a global response on COVID-19 crisis, Pakistan has been increasingly belligerent and tried to increase tension in the region. The increased ceasefire violation has been a continues affair in the last few months.

Paytm is in talks with Zomato Ltd. to sell its movie and events ticketing business, according to people familiar with the matter, as the beleaguered fintech company carves a revival strategy amid weakening sales.
The discussions between Paytm, officially known as One97 Communications Ltd., and online food delivery firm Zomato are in advanced stages, though there are other suitors for the business, the people said, declining to be named as the matter is private. Talks are ongoing and no final decision has been made, the people said.

The multi-crore Dharavi slum redevelopment project involves no land transfer to the Adani group but to the Maharashtra government's departments, and the Ahmedabad-based conglomerate, as a project developer, will build houses that will be handed over to the same departments for allotment to residents of Asia's biggest slums, sources said.
Denying allegations of land grab made by MP Varsha Gaikwad, sources close to the project said land parcels are to be transferred only to Dharavi Redevelopment Project/Slum Rehabilitation Authority (DRP/SRA) of the state government's housing department.

In a significant step towards enhancing green energy generation in the state, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma laid the foundation stone for a 25-MW solar power generation project at the premises of the Namrup Thermal Power Station in Dibrugarh district on Friday.
A joint venture between the Assam Power Generation Corporation and Oil India Limited, the project will span 108 acres and is expected to cost Rs. 115 crore.

South Korean automotive giant Hyundai Motor Co's Indian subsidiary, Hyundai Motor India Limited, has filed draft papers to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) to raise around $3 billion through an initial public offering (IPO), aiming for a valuation between $18 billion to $20 billion, according to a report in Moneycontrol.
