Six dead in Rampal's ashram in Hisar

Six people have lost their lives in the clashes between the supporters of self-styled godman Rampal and the Haryana Police in Hisar.

Bodies of four women were handed over to police by Rampal's staff. Two others, including an infant, were taken to a hospital where they died, police said here today.

But Haryana DGP S N Vashisht said that there were no wounds on the bodies of the four women who had died and as of now police was not certain at what time and under what circumstances they had passed away.

The women whose bodies have been handed over were identified as Savita (31) of Delhi, Santosh (45) of Rohtak, Raj Bala (70) of Bijnore and Malikit Kaur (50) of Sangrur in Punjab.

Besides this, 20-year-old Rajni, who was in a serious conditon having a heart ailment, was rushed to Hisar hospital from the ashram at around 4 am, but she died there four hours later, the DGP said.

A one-and-a-half year-old, whose father's name was Vipin Pratap Singh, also died as he was suffering from congenital jaundice.

Vashisht said police will investigate all deaths to ascertain the exact cause.

"The bodies have been shifted to the Medical College Hospital at Agroha near Hissar and post mortem examination of the bodies will be conducted to ascertain the exact cause behind their deaths," said the DGP, who was flanked by Additional Chief Secretary P K Mahapatra and Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sanjeev Kaushal, said.
