Ujjwala Yojana: Jharkhand to provide free second gas cylinder refill

Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Thursday announced a second gas cylinder refill under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) for around 29 lakh women in the state.
"Our government will provide the second refill for gas cyclinders free of cost under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. This will be started on the occasion of Janmashtami this year," Das tweeted along with a video message on the initiative taken by his government. The step is taken to provide free refill to 99 per cent of the PMUY beneficiaries.
PMUY is an initiative launched on May 1, 2016, by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. This initiative aims to safeguard the health of women and children from the smoke emitted from firewood during cooking and consequently is committed to providing 80 million BPL households with free LPG connections over the next few years. PMUY implementation has been termed by the World Health Organisation (WHO) as a decisive intervention to check the indoor health pollution being faced by the women of the country.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday pulled up the Uttarakhand State Licensing Authority for inaction in the misleading advertisements case involving Patanjali Ayurved Limited.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the explanation offered by the body, a bench of Justice Hima Kohli and Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah observed it appeared that the licensing authority got activated to take action in accordance with the law only after the apex court's April 10 order.

Microsoft will invest $1.7 billion over the next four years into expanding cloud services and artificial intelligence in Indonesia, including building data centres, visiting chief executive Satya Nadella said on Tuesday.

JNK India stock made a strong market debut on Tuesday with its shares getting listed at Rs 621, a 50 per cent premium over its issue price of Rs 415 per share on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). Post listing, the stock moved to an intraday high of Rs 665, 60 per cent up over issue price.
At 10:02 am, JNK India stock was trading at Rs 651, 57 per cent higher than issue price, with around 6.19 million equity shares changing hands on the NSE, data shows.
