Amazon return policy: You might be banned for making too many returns

NEW DELHI: Gone are the days when you could return your Amazon orders as you like, now it might get you banned from the brand’s service. As per the latest update, Amazon recently banned consumers from making purchases on their site for practices like returning too many items.

The report further states that two customers got their accounts banned even without warning. First consumer, Nir Nissim, said he was banned because of his consistent returning activity. Later on, after making several calls to Amazon, his account was reinstated.

Amazon in its clarification statement said it is rare for a customer to get a ban for abusing their service for a long period of time.

Even though Amazon does not specify in their official report what exactly can get the users banned, a number of practices tied to abusing its return policy can cause alarms, such as returning the wrong item or making frequent returns.

The concept of Amazon banning customers for a lot of returns is not new. A report in 2016 exposed a computer programmer who was also banned after returning 37 of the 343 items he purchased since 2014.

The melee over Amazon’s return policy is ironic as the e-commerce giant has always advertised itself as a customer-friendly seller. A number of people use Amazon merely for its convenience, the ability to easily return purchases and its huge variety of choices that other stores do not offer.
