Vasco Da Gama-Patna Express derailment live: Train mishap kills 3 in Chitrakoot; Railways Minister announces compensation

At least thirteen coaches of the Vasco Da Gama-Patna express derailed at Manikpur railway station in Chitrakoot, Uttar Pradesh on Friday morning, killing three people and leaving at least nine injured, as reported by news agency PTI. Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal announced an ex-gratia compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to kin of dead in the accident, Rs 1 lakh for those with grevious injuries and Rs 50,000 for those injured.
The train that was travelling from Goa to Patna derailed around 4.14 am. In the aftermath of the derailment, movement of trains was disrupted on the Patna-Allahabad route.

IT major Infosys, on Thursday, reported a consolidated net profit increase of 30 per cent to Rs 7,969 crore for the quarter of January-March in the financial year 2024 (Q4FY24), compared to Rs 6,128 crore reported during the same period last year.
The consolidated revenue went up 1.3 per cent to Rs 37,923 crore, compared to Rs 37,441 crore reported during Q4FY23.

Fintech firm BharatPe on Tuesday said it has elevated its interim CEO and chief financial officer Nalin Negi as full-time chief executive officer.
Negi was given charge of interim CEO in January 2023 after then CEO Suhail Sameer stepped down from the post.

Two individuals have been arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch late on Monday night for allegedly firing shots outside the residence of Bollywood actor Salman Khan in Bandra West on April 14, several media outlets reported.
"Both individuals, who fled Mumbai following the shooting, were apprehended in Bhuj, Gujarat," stated officials, as per news agency ANI. The Mumbai police confirmed that the detained individuals, identified as Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal from Champaran, Bihar, will be transported to Mumbai for further interrogation.

Professional networking platform LinkedIn on Tuesday released the 2024 Top Companies list for India wherein IT companies bagged the top three ranks, while financial services firms dominated the list with 9 out of 25 companies from this sector.
