India's COVID-19 tally of cases crossed 1.07 crore with11,666 new coronavirus infections being reported in a day,while the national recovery rate climbed to 96.94 per cent,accordingto the Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday.
The total infections have mounted to 1,07,01,193. The death toll increased to 1,53,847 with 123 daily new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am showed.

Food delivery giant Swiggy (Bundl Technologies Private Limited) has reported its revenues for financial year 2019-20 at Rs 2,776 crore, a 115 per cent jump since the last financial year. The company further reported a net loss of Rs 3,768 crore during the same fiscal. This is 61 per cent increase from the last financial year, showed regulatory documents sourced from business intelligence platform Tofler. The Bengaluru-based company’s total expenses for the fiscal were reported at Rs 6,545 crore.

New US defence secretary Lloyd Austin and the Indian defence Minister Rajnath Singh spoke on Wednesday, in what is the first official and public contact between the Indian govt and the new Biden administration.
The talks that started around 7.30 pm IST on Wednesday, lasted for around 20 minutes. During the call, which was made from the US side, there was a reaffirmation of the Indo Pacific vision, backed by both Washington and Delhi.

The third batch of three Rafale fighter jets landed at an IAF base in India from France after a non-stop flight. The IAF tweeted, The third batch of three Rafale aircraft landed at an IAF base a short while ago. They flew over 7000Km with in-flight refuelling. The aircraft got airborne earlier in the day from #IstresAirBase in France. IAF deeply appreciates the tanker support provided by UAE Air Force.

Farmer unions protesting against the new farm laws have all distanced themselves from those who went inside the Red Fort and hoisted the Khalsa flag. They claimed that none of the unions had any plan to 'invade' the Capital on Republic Day. Farmer unions on Wednesday also called off their proposed march to the Parliament on February 1, in view of Republic Day violence.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Police Commissioner S N Shrivastava on Wednesday said that the farmer leaders were also involved in the violence.

Emerging as a reliable partner in COVID-19 assistance in Asia by sending coronavirus vaccines to multiple countries, India on Thursday dispatched the vaccines to Bahrain and Sri Lanka. In the past, India has sent the vaccines to several countries including Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, and the Maldives.
Under the government's Vaccine Maitri initiative, Sri Lanka will be provided with a consignment of 50,400 doses of vaccines while Bahrain will receive 10,800 doses.

Shares of TVS Motor Company hit a fresh 52-week high of Rs 555, up 2 per cent, on the BSE on Wednesday ahead of its December quarter results (Q3FY21) on Thursday. The stock bounced back 4 per cent from its intra-day low of Rs 536.
The stock saw huge activities with trading volumes jumping over four-fold today. A combined around 7.4 million equity shares changing hands on the NSE and BSE till 12:10 pm.

Former AIADMK leader VK Sasikala and close aide of the late Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu J Jayalalithaa will be released on Wednesday (January 27) from Bengaluru Parappana Agrahara prison after spending four years in jail in a corruption case. The 63-year-old was tested coronavirus positive last week and will remain in the hospital in Bengaluru.
All the formalities for the release will be carried in the hospital, said the prison officials. After the release, she may have to spend a minimum of 10 days at the medical facility, said Victoria Hospital Authorities.
