Binny Bansal, the co-founder of Flipkart, is considering investing $100–150 million in the online payment platform PhonePe. The development has come to light as the digital payments company is conducting a financing round, according to a report in The Economic Times (ET). If successful, the investment will be among the largest individual investments in a new-age company.

Quoting a person familiar with the matter, the report said, "The amount that he (Binny Bansal) is investing is yet to be finalised. The talks have been on and are likely to close soon."

India's fuel demand hit its highest level in at least 24 years in February, data showed on Thursday, with industrial activity in Asia's third biggest economy boosted by cheap Russian oil.

Capital markets regulator Sebi on Wednesday imposed restrictions on the placement of bids, price and volume for the companies undertaking share buyback through the stock exchange route.

Under the restrictions, a company will not be able to purchase more than 25 per cent of the average daily trading volume (in value) of its shares in the 10 trading days preceding the day in which such purchases are made, Sebi said in a circular.

New Delhi, Mar 8 (PTU) Reliance Jio, the country's largest telecom operator, on Wednesday announced the launch of its 5G services in 27 more cities of 13 states and union territories to extend its network of ultra high-speed telephony to 331 cities across India.

India is likely to surpass China and emerge as the largest international market for Walmart this year, said John David Rainey, chief financial officer and executive vice president, Walmart, Inc. The US retail giant is the owner of the e-commerce company Flipkart and fintech firm PhonePe.

“You noted China and India, really excited about both those markets, excited about what's going on in our other markets as well. But those are two markets that certainly are faster growing,” said Rainey at the Raymond James 44th Annual Institutional Investors Conference on Tuesday evening.
