AAP on Friday alleged that the BJP is buying votes ahead of the Delhi assembly elections, claiming that the saffron party's Delhi leaders have embezzled funds meant for "buying votes with money".

Addressing a press conference, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh alleged that the BJP has allocated Rs 10,000 per voter to its leaders for buying votes but only a fraction of the money reached the intended recipients.

India Post recently introduced Aadhaar-based authentication for Post Office Savings Account (POSA) opening and other transactions, enabling a paperless know your customer (KYC) process. Effective from January 6, 2025, it’s a major upgrade to India’s postal banking operations.

The e-KYC-based account opening process will be implemented in phases. In Phase I, new customers will be on-boarded, and Customer Information Files (CIFs) will be created using Aadhaar authentication.

The Enforcement Directorate Friday conducted searches in multiple states, including in Bihar on premises liked to an RJD MLA, as part of a money laundering investigation linked to an alleged funds embezzlement at a state cooperative bank, official sources said.

About 18 premises in Bihar, West Bengal (Kolkata), Uttar Pradesh and Delhi are being searched, they said.
