Domestic equity benchmark BSE Sensex plunged over 400 points in early trade on 22 July amid heavy foreign fund outflow and weak domestic as well as global cues.

The 30-share index was trading 373.14 points or 0.97% lower at 37,963.87 at 09:30 a.m.; and the broader Nifty also sank 116.80 points or 1.02% to 11,302.45.

Drug major Cipla Monday said its subsidiary InvaGen Pharmaceuticals has received final approval from the US health regulator for Pregabalin Capsules, indicated for management of neuropathic pain associated with certain illnesses.

InvaGen has received approval from the the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) for the drug in the strengths of 25mg, 50mg, 75mg, 100mg, 150mg, 200mg, 225mg and 300mg, Cipla said in a regulatory filing.

The department of telecommunications is pushing for a Rs 74,000-crore revival package for the loss-making BSNL and MTNL on the ground that closing them down would cost higher — around Rs 95,000 crore. The assumption behind the revival package, which involves an attractive VRS package to BSNL’s 1.65 lakh employees, reducing the retirement age from the current 60 years to 58 years, will cut the wage bill of the company which in FY19 was 77% of its revenues.

Bankers may be forced to reduce the lending rates further, with Reserve Bank of India governor Shaktikanta Das stressing that the rates are not moving in tandem with cuts in the policy rate.

The central bank has slashed the repo rate by 0.75%, but banks have reduced rates only by 0.1% to 0.2% during the calendar year 2019, Das said in a pre-policy meeting with bank chiefs last week. The RBI's monetary policy is scheduled to be unveiled on August 7.

To reverse the decline in production of natural gas fields in KG-D6 block in Bay of Bengal, Reliance Industries (RIL) said it is likely to start production at the three new sets of discoveries in the block by mid-2020.

As many as 32 people were killed in Uttar Pradesh due to lightening on Sunday, said officials.
