Shares of YES Bank surged 29 per cent to Rs 41.30 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) in the early morning deals on Thursday after the bank assured investors of a stable financial position, and said that the entire pledged shares stand extinguished.

"The financial and operating metrics remain intrinsically sound and stable, with liquidity position well in excess of regulatory requirements... With the invocation of shares, the entire pledge stands extinguished and all sale under the same duly completed," the bank said in a statement.

The rupee on Thursday opened 15 paise lower at 71.22 against the US dollar amid rebound in crude oil prices and concerns over economic growth. The domestic unit on Tuesday dropped 20 paise to close at 71.07 as heavy selling in domestic equities, unabated foreign fund outflows kept investors edgy.

The Supreme Court on Monday granted four weeks' time to the Central government to file its reply on a batch of petitions challenging the abrogation of the special status accorded to Jammu and Kashmir and other allied issues pertaining to the region.

Maharashtra elections: The BJP announced the names of 125 candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly polls on Tuesday and said it will contest the election in an alliance with the Shiv Sena and some smaller parties. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will contest the polls from the Nagpur South West seat and the Maharashtra unit chief of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Chandrakant Patil, from Kothrud, according to the list released by the party’s general secretary, Arun Singh.

Ashok Leyland reported a 57 per cent drop in domestic vehicle sales in September to 7,851 units from 18,078 units in the year-ago period.

The company's domestic sales of medium and heavy commercial vehicles (M&HCV) slumped 69 per cent to 4,035 units from 13,056 the previous year, while those of M&HCV trucks were down 74 per cent to 3,131 units from 11,837 units.
