Karnataka: Bandh called by farmers against state farm bills today, here's what will be affected

Days after farmers across the country organised a 'Bharat Bandh', organisations in Karnataka have called for a state-wide shutdown on Monday to protest against the agricultural produce market committee (APMC) and land reforms acts introduced by the state government.

The call for bandh has gathered support from political parties including the Congress and JD(S), pro-Kannada outfits, and several labour organisations.

The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a big decision regarding organising Durga Puja. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday, September 28, announced that in view of coronavirus (COVID-19), public events to celebrate Durga Puja will not be allowed in the state.

Yogi Adityanath said that no celebrations will be allowed to take place on the streets or pandals. He urged people to establish Durga idol in their homes.

India's COVID-19 tally crossed the 60-lakh mark with a spike of 82,170 new cases and 1,039 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry on Monday.

As per the Ministry, India's tally stands at 60,74,703 including 9,62,640 active cases.

In a major development, a group of 15-20 men reached Rajpath near the India Gate in Delhi and set a tractor on fire. The vehicle was set ablaze to protest against the farm legislations.

The incident happened at around 7:30 am today when the group of unknown men carrying posters of Bhagat Singh reached the India Gate shouting slogans against the government. Two fire tenders were rushed to the spot for dousing the fire.
