NEW DELHI: With public sector bank officers threatening to go on strike on Monday, the country's largest lender SBI today said a section of its employees may take part in the said agitation on February 29 -- a day when Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will present the General Budget.

In a filing to the BSE, State Bank of India (SBI) said, "All India State Bank Officers' Federation (AISBOF) being affiliated to AIBOC, will also participate in the strike.

NEW DELHI: Loans worth Rs 11,700 crore given by State Bank of India have been locked up as non-performing assets as nearly 1,160 defaulters have willfully decided not to repay.

The bank had identified 1,164 cases of wilful default with outstanding loan amount of Rs 11,705 crore, as on September 2015, as per data collated by the Finance Ministry.

The State Bank of India (SBI) on Thursday posted 67% decline in consolidated profit to Rs 1,259.49 crore for the third quarter (Q3) ended December 31, 2015, on account of higher provisioning for bad loans.

The SBI Group had registered a net profit of Rs 3,828.20 crore in the October-December quarter of the 2014-15 fiscal.

After having stablised tie-ups with three private banks for offline Holiday Savings Account (HSA), Thomas Cook and State Bank of India will together offer a similar facility to the state-owned bank's 25 million online customers.

This is a 12-month recurring deposit with SBI that allows the bank's customer to save money and also pre-select a holiday from Thomas Cook India's portal.
