IT exports from Odisha up 23% in 2013-14

Software exports from Odisha has touched about Rs 2,400 crore in 2013-14, an increase of 23.4 per cent over the previous fiscal, according to the provisional data compiled by Software Technology Parks of India (STPI).

IT units in the state had exported Rs 1,945 crore in 2012-13, including Rs 1,705 crore by the STPI registered units.

US tech worker groups boycott Infosys, IBM, Manpower

Three technology workers groups in the US have announced a boycott against Infosys, IBM and Manpower claiming that the companies have indulged in hiring practices that excludes US workforce from local job openings in that country.

The boycott will continue until these three technology majors demonstrate employment practices that follow laws prohibiting discrimination in the upcoming jobs for FY2016, the three groups-- Bright Future Jobs, Programmers Guild and Washtech, said in a press release. Recruitment for these jobs will start from October this year.

Infosys Executive Chairman N R Narayana Murthy on Friday said the departure of 10 senior executives was in the best interests of the city-based information technology company.

“As we embark on a newer and better horizon for our employees and our clients, we will see some transition in leadership,” Murthy said in an email to Infosys employees on Friday. “Please rest assured that the leadership changes take into account the best interests of the company.”

B G Srinivas to join HK-based PWWC

B G Srinivas to join HK-based PWWC

Infosys board member and president, B G Srinivas, who recently resigned from the company, will be joining PCCW Limited, which is the holding company of Hong Kong-based information and communications technology firm HKT Group Holdings Limited. Srinivas will be appointed as PCCW's group managing director and executive director, with effect from July 14. His resignation at Infosys would be effective June 10.
