Software exports from Odisha has touched about Rs 2,400 crore in 2013-14, an increase of 23.4 per cent over the previous fiscal, according to the provisional data compiled by Software Technology Parks of India (STPI).

IT units in the state had exported Rs 1,945 crore in 2012-13, including Rs 1,705 crore by the STPI registered units.

In yet another top-level exit at Infosys, Prasad Thrikutam, global head of sales, marketing and strategic appliance, has quit the company.

Thrikutam, with Infosys for the past 19 years, was also heading Americas, the largest market for the Bangalore-based company.

Infosys, India’s second-largest information technology services company, has said a few of its clients have sent queries on the rising attrition in the company, especially the exits of many senior leaders in the recent past. This is the first time the city-based company has spoken about clients’ concerns on such issues.

The turnaround story of India’s second-largest IT services exporter, Infosys, could get delayed further due to an inefficiently handled CEO selection process and senior management exits, impacting its revenue growth during the current fiscal, according to a brokerage house.

Infosys, India’s second largest software services company, expects the recent spate of mergers and acquisitions (M&As) in the global pharmaceutical sector to boost its life sciences business over the next 12 months.

“There is a lot of M&A activity happening in the life sciences space. When M&A is typically initiated, budgets are tightly controlled, because companies are hoarding cash to ward off (rival bids) and to make the sale happen,” said Manish Tandon, senior vice-president and global segment head of life sciences.

Three technology workers groups in the US have announced a boycott against Infosys, IBM and Manpower claiming that the companies have indulged in hiring practices that excludes US workforce from local job openings in that country.

The boycott will continue until these three technology majors demonstrate employment practices that follow laws prohibiting discrimination in the upcoming jobs for FY2016, the three groups-- Bright Future Jobs, Programmers Guild and Washtech, said in a press release. Recruitment for these jobs will start from October this year.

As speculation over information technology major Infosys’ hunt for its next chief executive officer (CEO) gathers pace, the Bangalore-based company observed fatigue building among its employees and investors. According to sources, few clients of the company have also started raising concerns over the search process and rumours of further exits from the company.

A year ago, when India’s second-largest information technology (IT) services company, Infosys, brought back iconic co-founder N R Narayana Murthy as executive chairman, about two years after his retirement, the decision was welcomed with much fanfare.

Despite a shrinking market share and declining profitability, Murthy’s return helped Infosys get a double thumbs-up from investors. While the company’s shares rose around five per cent in the first trade after the announcement of Murthy’s return, they surged nearly 30 per cent over the next three months.

Infosys Executive Chairman N R Narayana Murthy on Friday said the departure of 10 senior executives was in the best interests of the city-based information technology company.

“As we embark on a newer and better horizon for our employees and our clients, we will see some transition in leadership,” Murthy said in an email to Infosys employees on Friday. “Please rest assured that the leadership changes take into account the best interests of the company.”

Infosys board member and president, B G Srinivas, who recently resigned from the company, will be joining PCCW Limited, which is the holding company of Hong Kong-based information and communications technology firm HKT Group Holdings Limited. Srinivas will be appointed as PCCW's group managing director and executive director, with effect from July 14. His resignation at Infosys would be effective June 10.
