BENGALURU | NEW DELHI: Software exporter Infosys has undertaken a large-scale reboot of existing internal systems and processes, including across functions such as finance, travel and human resources, as part of a broader strategy to improve productivity across the company and also save costs, a top company executive said.

“So, the way it will work is that many of the service offerings of the BPO can work across all service lines,” said an executive who declined to be named.

Infosys Foundation, philanthropic arm of the IT major, has signed a pact with Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune, to support students from economically weaker section to pursue 'high quality' education.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aims at providing opportunities for economically weaker students to pursue high quality science education and research through scholarships, fellowships and travel awards, Infosys said in a release.

Bengaluru: Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp. on Friday reported a sequential decline in revenue in the quarter to March marking the Nasdaq-listed firm’s slowest start to a calendar year since 2009.

Worryingly for investors, Cognizant slightly revised down its forecast for 2016 revenue growth, with the management now expecting full-year revenue to be between $13.65 billion and $14 billion, an increase of 10-13%, as against the earlier guidance of 10-14%.

The government has approved the proposal of Infosys to set up an IT/ITeS special economic zone in Bengaluru in an area spread over 4 hectares.

The decision was taken by an inter-ministerial Board of Approval (BoA), headed by Commerce Secretary Rita Teaotia, at its meeting on April 28. "The Board noted that the developer is in possession of the land. It decided to grant formal approval to the proposal," the minutes of the BoA meeting said.

Infosys, India’s second largest IT services exporter, has introduced a new artificial intelligence (AI) platform called Mana. Infosys Mana brings machine learning together with the deep knowledge of an organisation, to drive automation and innovation.

According to the IT major, Mana, with the Infosys Aikido service offerings will lower the cost of maintenance for both physical and digital assets.

BENGALURU: In what maybe a sign of the escalating war for large deals, India's top outsourcing firms like Infosys and Wipro are increasingly more open to making large upfront payments while bidding for large deals that offer assured revenues. This comes at a time when India's $160-billion IT industry faces its slowest revenue growth in nearly a decade.

According to executives familiar with these plans, Indian outsourcing firms have traditionally stayed away from large deals (over $500 million) which include the takeover of customer assets including data centres or delivery centers.
