Extending its winning run to the fifth session, BSE benchmark Sensex climbed 269 points to hit six-month high of 38,024 led by rally in banking stocks amid soaring foreign fund inflows, strengthening rupee and positive global cues.

After rallying nearly 500 points in afternoon trade, the Sensex settled 269.43 points, or 0.71%, higher at 38,024.32. The NSE Nifty closed 83.60 points, or 0.74%, up at 11,426.85.

Mumbai: The BSE benchmark Sensex jumped over 200 points and the NSE Nifty reclaimed the 11,400 level on Friday, tracking by gains in banking, auto and IT stocks amid unabated foreign fund inflow, strengthening rupee and positive global cues.

The 30-share index was trading 240.83 points, or 0.64 per cent, higher at 37,995.72, while the 50-share NSE Nifty climbed 74.90 points, or 0.66 per cent, to 11,418.15.

The BSE benchmark Sensex rose over 150 points on Thursday led by gains in financial stocks amid unabated foreign fund inflow and positive domestic cues.

The 30-share index was trading 141.80 points, or 0.38%, higher at 37,893.97, while the 50-share NSE Nifty climbed 33.75 points, or 0.30%, to 11,375.45.

At 01:11 pm; the benchmark S&P BSE Sensex was trading 0.25 per cent or 93 points lower at 36,632 on the BSE.

Ipca Laboratories had posted healthy operational performance in December 2018 quarter (Q3FY19). The company’s Ebitda (earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and ammortisation) margin before forex gain was expanded by 385 basis points (bps) at 22.48 per cent in Q3FY19 from 18.63 per cent in Q3FY18.

Shares of Wipro fell 5 per cent to Rs 256 in intra-day trade on the BSE in after huge block deals were executed on the counter.

Till 11:22 am, a combined 57.86 million equity shares, representing 1.3 per cent equity, of Wipro had changed hands on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE.

The name of the buyer and sellers could not be ascertained immediately.

Shares of Arvind Fashions locked in upper circuit of 5 per cent at Rs 621 apiece on the BSE on Friday. The stock of Lalbhai Group’s company opened at Rs 592 on first day of its listing.

The stock listed and admitted to dealings on the Exchange in the list of 'T' group securities. The T group represents scrips which are settled on a trade-to-trade basis as a surveillance measure.

Indian bourses continued their rising spree to the fourth session on Thursday, with both benchmarks Sensex and Nifty opening higher amid strengthening of country’s macroeconomic outlook following rising rupee and falling crude prices.

The 30-share BSE Sensex was trading higher by 63.75 points, or 0.17%, at 36,699.85.
