New Delhi: Nasscom Foundation, a non-profit organisation that’s part of software services industry lobby group Nasscom, on Tuesday said it had partnered with SAP India to establish 25 national digital literacy mission (NDLM) centres in 12 cities across India.
Nasscom Foundation is the government’s industry partner for NDLM, which aims to make more than five million individuals digitally literate in India over the next four years. Part of the Digital India initiative, it envisages making one person in every family digitally literate, imparting IT training to 5.25 million Indians.

Wizikey, a technology PR startup, on Thursday rolled out its reputation engineering platform, in association with Nasscom 10,000 Startups, an initiative to scale up the startup ecosystem in India.
Founded by sisters IIT Kharagpur and ISB alumna Aditi Bhargava, and SRCC and MICA alumna Aakriti Bhargava, the company is headquartered in Gurgaon.

Bengaluru: India’s software trade lobby group National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) has submitted a memo to a UK panel of immigration advisors flagging concerns about the government’s proposed move to curb migration of skilled foreign workers into the country.
In the memo, submitted on 25 September in response to the Migration Advisory Committee’s call for comments from all stakeholders in the visa process, Nasscom argued any curbs will significantly increase the operating cost of businesses in the UK and force companies to export job overseas to stay competitive.

The report, which aims to understand the shifting business priorities, focuses on the implications of these shifts and the future of human resources (HR), the company said.

Unlike the west, India does not have enough number of angel investors who can fuel the growth of the country's thriving start-up ecosystem, industry body Nasscom has said.
"For a successful start-up ecosystem there is need for enough angel investors who can support the budding entrepreneurs from early stage. But this is not happening in India and there is a serious lack of it," Nasscom Vice-President Rajat Tandon told PTI.

With over $5 billion worth investment in 2015 and three to four startups emerging every day, India has paved its way to secure the third position in the world in terms of the number of startups, 4200 and counting, a growth of 40%, by the end of 2015.

New Delhi: The Indian information technology (IT) and services industry is set to more than double its revenue to touch $350 billion by 2025, riding on the global digital disruption due to rise of SMAC (social, mobility, analytics, cloud), the Internet of Things (IoT) and robotics, among other things, according to the new projection released by software lobby Nasscom based on research conducted by McKinsey and Co. on Monday.

New Delhi: Indian information technology companies invested more than $2 billion, paid $22.5 billion in taxes between 2011 and 2013, and supports 411,000 direct and indirect jobs in the US, the apex software industry body Nasscom said on Monday ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to that country later this month.
In a report released on the sidelines of US-India Strategic and Commercial Dialogue in Washington, Nasscom said that direct and indirect jobs supported by India’s IT sector in the US grew at an annual rate of 10% from 2011 to 2014—or about six times higher than the average jobs growth rate of 1.7% during the same period.

The National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) today inaugurated its start-up warehouse in Kochi, Kerala, in collaboration with the state government.
The start-up warehouse seeks to build entrepreneurial capabilities in the state, create a vibrant community to connect investors, mentors and start-up entrepreneurs, and building tech-entrepreneurship as a preferred career option, the IT industry lobby group said in a release.

The IT-ITeS sector skills council (SSC Nasscom), in association with Hyderabad-based career accelerator TalentSprint, on Thursday launched a nationwide programme for Talent Acquisition Professionals in the IT and business process management (BPM) industry called the Talent Acquisition Professionals Forum (or TAP Forum).
There are over 30,000 talent acquisition professionals in the Indian IT-BPM industry. A recent study revealed that recruiting is the most important human resources function when it comes to RoI (return on investment) and companies that excel in recruiting experience have 3.5 times more revenue growth than their less-capable peers.
