D'Addario is one of the world's top makers of strings for musical instruments and a major producer of musical instrument accessories. Product lines, which are sold in more than 5,400 US music retail stores and in more than 100 countries, include Planet Waves (guitar straps, accessories, electric guitar amplifier cables), Evans (drumheads, accessories), Rico (reeds), and Archives (music writing paper). D'Addario also distributes Vandoren reeds and mouthpieces. Started in 1974, D'Addario is owned and run by the D'Addario family. The family's ancestors in Italy began making strings in the 1600s.
