Formerly a 50-50 joint venture called Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the company was formed in 1999 through the merger of the European computer operations of global giants Fujitsu and Siemens.

Gateway, Inc. provides desktop and portable PCs, displays, and computer accessories. It also offers support services for its products, as well as for electronics products by other manufacturers. It bought control of the company in 2008.
