Other divisions make surfactants, polymers, pharmaceutical and agricultural fine chemicals, and distribute color and additive concentrates. Clariant GmbH sells to the automotive, electronics, consumer goods, medical, packaging, and textiles markets. The company is the German unit of Swiss specialty chemical giant Clariant International and accounts for about 15% of its parent's total sales.

Its largest business units make functional chemicals such as biocides, industrial ingredients, and detergents as well as chemicals and dyes for textiles, leather, and paper. Active in 150 countries on five continents, Clariant is now focusing on its fast-growing fine and specialty chemicals and on expanding operations in Asia.
