Soft Skull Press is a New York-based alternative book publishing house. The company operates under the mission of publishing works from the next generation of public intellectuals. Soft Skull Press was founded by Sander Hicks in 1992 as a guerrilla publishing operation run under-the-table at the Kinko's where Hicks was employed. The company's first book was Hicks's first novel, "Foam".
