K-Tron International helps manufacturers watch their weight. Operating via subsidiary companies, K-Tron has two key lines: A Process Group makes feeders that let manufacturers control the flow (by weight or volume) of bulk solids and liquids during manufacturing processes. The group also builds pneumatic conveying systems that use vacuum and pressure to precisely control the flow of ingredients to make pharmaceutical, food, chemical, and plastic products. K-Tron Electronics produces and tests electronic assemblies for the group, as well as sells to regional OEMs. A Size Reduction Group makes equipment for crushing and conveying materials, such as coal and wood. Casket maker Hillenbrand acquired K-Tron in 2010.
