J. Filippi Vintage, which operates as Joseph Filippi Winery & Vineyards, produces merlot, syrah, zinfandel, chardonnay, and dessert wines. The winery is known for its premium wines, but it also makes sacramental and altar wines and offers custom-labeling services. Sold in restaurants, stores, and via the company's Web site (where legal), JFW's libations -- in addition to its well-known chardonnay -- include merlot, sauvignon blanc, pinot noir, cabernet sauvignon, and zinfandel. JFW owns and farms 14,000 acres of vineyards running along the California coast. Founder and billionaire Jess Jackson and his family own JFW.

JVW Corporation grows and harvests grapes, makes wine and bottles and sells it as the Jordan Vineyard & Winery. Located in the Sonoma Valley in Healdsburg, California, the winery, designed to look like an 18th century French chateau, produces cabernet sauvignon and chardonnay wines, which are distributed in throughout the US, as well as in the UK and the Far East. The winery keeps vintages dating back to 1976. JVW also grows olive trees on its land and produces limited-edition olive oils for retail sale. JVW Corporation is the brainchild of oilman Tom Jordan.

The winery, which produces wine varietals under the Kent Rasmussen Winery and Ramsay Wines labels, specializes in Pinot Noir (Miles' favorite) and Chardonnay, hailing from the Carneros region of California. Because of its clay soil and low rainfall, the Carneros region is optimally suited for growing Pinot Noir grapes. The vineyard is run by husband-and-wife team Kent Rasmussen and Celia Ramsay; Rasmussen planted his first six acres in the region back in 1979.
