Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission
Whether you're headed to Valley Forge or Gettysburg or to Philadelphia or Pittsburgh, a driving trip through Pennsylvania might mean spending time on some of the 535-plus miles of highway operated by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission. The toll road's main section runs from the Delaware River to the Pennsylvania-Ohio border, where it connects with the Ohio Turnpike. The Pennsylvania Turnpike also includes northeastern and western extensions. Overall, the system includes about 60 toll collection facilities and some 20 service plazas. The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission consists of four gubernatorial appointees and the state secretary of transportation.
